A dot-separated path referencing a value in the evaluation context. Each segment is either a JS-identifier-style key ([A-Za-z_][A-Za-z0-9_]*) or a * wildcard that traverses every element of an array.

Valid: user.is_resident, line_items.*.facility_id Invalid: "", "foo..bar", "foo bar", "foo-bar", "*.*" at position 0 only

The constraint matches what resolveField can actually traverse, so malformed paths (typos, interpolation mistakes, unescaped user input) fail fast at schema parse time instead of silently resolving to an empty value set at evaluation time.
